Lotte Duty Free
Lotte Duty Free, which started as the first general duty free shop in Korea, opened its store in Myeong-dong in 1980. Since then, Lotte Duty Free has opened branches in Lotte World Tower and Incheon Airport as well as in Busan, and operates a total of eight stores nationwide. Lotte Duty Free was the first in the duty free and travel retail industry to not only introduce compartmental boutique retail like department stores, but also successfully attract the world's top 3 luxury brands—Louis Vuitton, Hermès, and Chanel. Since 2004, Lotte Duty Free, which has been contributing greatly to the growth of Korea's tourism industry, has successfully attracted tourists and induced consumer spending by presenting Hallyu (K-wave) marketing. Lotte Duty Free started its global expansion by opening a branch in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2013, and now operates branches in Guam, Japan, Vietnam and more. Lotte Duty Free is the first and only Korean duty free shop to expand to Oceania—operating 4 stores in Austrailia and 1 in New Zealand since January 2019. Moreover, Lotte Duty Free is the industry's first duty free shop to open an online store, available in five languages (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, English, and Vietnamese). Lotte Duty Free currently operates 20 stores in 7 countries, including Korea. Lotte Duty Free aims to become the global No. 1 in travel retail by expanding its business and strengthening its core, based on its capacity as Korea's top duty free shop and the world's second best.
